Hello Professor and Class,
I cannot thank you enough
for all of the posts that were left on my last week’s blog. I really appreciate
all the advice and thoughtful words. I am feeling so much better and I guess I
needed to take a step back, evaluate my own wellness and work on addressing the
areas in my life that were lacking and care for myself and I did and this week
has been great!
Throughout this class and
all the exercises that we have learned about and have completed I would have to
say that the visualization and meditation were my favorite to engage in because
they really enhanced my mind, body and spirit connection. Through both of these
exercises I have been able to feel more at ease calm internally and externally
and feel less anxious and for that alone I am forever grateful. Ways that I
will continue to implement these practices in my life to foster mental fitness
is through my daily yoga practice, followed by 30 minutes of deep meditation
and before bed a 15 minute meditation coupled with visualization about the
ocean and all the wonderful and blissful happiness thinking about the ocean
creates for me. The ocean is the one place in the world where my life makes
sense and my mind body and soul feel complete and one day, I plan to retire in
a beautiful place right on the beach. I loved the way that through completing
the visualization I could “feel” the ocean and my heart was filled with love
and compassion and I felt whole and because of the feelings of bliss that I get
when I complete meditation and visualization I will continue to practice these
exercises. I hope that you all have a fantastic week and send wellness your
way!

Hi Megan,
ReplyDeleteI am SO glad to hear you are feeling better. For those of us who love to help others it is sometimes necessary to take a step back and take care of ourselves.
I love the ocean too! Before I started Kaplan two years ago, I headed to the beach whenever I had a break from work. I graduate in September and look forward to more beach days! The scent of the ocean, the gentle breeze, and the sound of the waves bring about a sense of tranquility - can't you picture it now?! :-)
I knew when I started Kaplan I would have extra work and tried to remember it the scheme of events, it was going to be short-term, even when I was overwhelmed with too much to do. Knowing "this too shall pass" helps me get through difficult times.
Have a great week!
Cynthia
Thank you so much! I love how we relate on so many things. I hope that we can stay connected through our blog after this class ends. I really enjoy reading your work and thoughts as well. I too hope that you have a fantastic week!

Megan,
ReplyDeletethank you for sharing. It is great to hear you have found a daily routine which works for you. I lived in Fla until I was about 10 years old and have fond memories of the beach. Years later while stationed in N.C. I went to Myrtle Beach every chance I got. Then while in Guantanamo Bay Cuba, I was surrounded by water. It was great, like summer all year long. I could not take my family with me there but always found peace, comfort, and tranquility just sitting on the beach, listening and watching the sounds of the water and feeling the breeze blow by. Now I have to rely on visualization because I am almost at the exact geographic center of the continental U.S. (Kansas), but I have all the breeze I can stand. No matter where I am physically located, I can always find my own beach! Good luck with everything in your future. Joe
Megan,
ReplyDeleteIt is great to hear that you have benefited so much from everyone's feedback! Maybe if I tried some meditation practices before I went to bed I would have more success with them, I will have to take your advice. The thought of retiring right next to the beach sounds like the best life ever! My parents have lived on the lake ever since I was born so I am defiantly used to having water right in the backyard, you and I can relate on that dream! Good luck with everything!

Megan,
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you are feeling better! I too believe that the beach is the best medicine. Whenever I get a chance to get away I take it. There is just something about the ocean that can put any problem into its true perspective. I like the idea that you have about the meditation and visualizations before bed each night. I bet that could lead to a better nights sleep as well. Take care.

Hi Megan,
ReplyDeleteI too picked meditation and visualization, I love visualization, I use it in all aspects of my life and it helps make my days so much easier. I recently have been using it at the gym with my workouts, before the exercise I envision the weight I want to do and the amount of reps desired, and finally make sure that I activate the muscles that will be used in the exercise. The results are insane, I have only once not been able to do what I envisioned.
